Key stakeholders are being engaged to redesign family violence refuge and crisis supported accommodation and address barriers for women without income and women and children with disabilities.
There is a range of initiatives underway, focused on improving access to and support in family violence refuge and crisis supported accommodation. This includes redevelopment of refuges, enhanced 24/7 operations and increased resources for children and the specialist family violence case management review. The Family Violence Housing Assistance Implementation Taskforce is also being engaged with closely to respond to broader challenges across the housing and homelessness service system.

Slot gameIn 2019-20 work will begin to develop a service model for refuge and crisis supported accommodation, as the new core and cluster facilities are constructed state-wide. This model will also seek to respond to people who experience barriers, including women and children with disabilities and victim survivors on temporary visas.
The specialist family violence case management review commenced in March 2018. The review will deliver a broader framework for specialist family violence services to enhance the quality and consistency of case practice across the state. It will include a focus on meeting the needs of victim survivors who have historically experienced barriers to services and will be applicable to support delivered refuge and crisis supported accommodation.
