The Victorian Government, on the basis of demand forecasting, provide sufficient funds to specialist family violence services and Integrated Family Services to allow them to support people referred by a Support and Safety Hub, maintain their safety and help them until their situation has stabilised and they have the support necessary to rebuild and recover from family violence.
We are developing tools and approaches that will strengthen the modelling and forecasting of demand associated with The Orange Door, including how it will change as the system is reformed.
Funding is being increased for specialist family violence services and family services to ensure they can support people referred by The Orange Door. A range of reforms and service redesign work is also being undertaken, which will strengthen the ability of the service response to keep victims of family violence safe and ensure they can access the support they require to recover from their experience.
A family violence demand modelling tool has been finalised (as outlined in Recommendation 223). Further work is underway to model and forecast demand associated with The Orange Door.

Slot gameThe 5 locations of The Orange Door have been established in 2018, in North Eastern Melbourne, Mallee, Barwon, Bayside Peninsula, and Inner Gippsland. Central Highlands, Goulburn, and Loddon have been announced as locations for the next three Orange Door sites, and these are expected to commence operation in the later half of 2020.
