A range of reforms include the changes to the information sharing regime, the implementation of the redeveloped MARAM Framework and the review of the specialist family violence services Code of Practice are contributing to this recommendation.
Commencing in April 2019, Family Safety Victoria provided resourcing to both Domestic Violence Victoria and CASA Forum to support the integration of the Family Violence Information Sharing and Child Information Sharing schemes as well as to incorporate the MARAM into sexual assault practice. These resources are strengthening the capacity of both sectors by embedding the four pillars of the MARAM Framework into all policies, procedures and standards of practice. A one-day workshop about embedding MARAM has been co-hosted by No To Violence, Domestic Violence Victoria and CASA Forum.
CASA Forum and Domestic Violence Victoria are currently undertaking a project to progress this recommendation. This project will map the fundamental elements of existing relationships between the sexual assault and family violence sectors. A Technical Advisory Group comprising representatives from both sectors has been established to support the project. This project will focus on the opportunities of shared case work, secondary consultation and learning and development between the two sectors and provide the foundation for further work to strengthen collaboration. The project is expected to be finalised by the end of 2020.
In addition, sexual assault services, including CASAs and multi-disciplinary centres (MDCs), are participating in consultation processes to determine how these services will interact with The Orange Door. This work is focused on ensuring victim survivors of sexual assault have access to support based on their needs and choices.
